Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez Collins is an Mexican American Sportscaster. She hosts SportsNation as well as an anchor for SportsCenter anchor. She was hired by ESPN as a news anchor in the year 2016. She is the daughter of television reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins is bi-lingual and has been since her age of nine. The ability to speak two languages has helped her get her first position at Univision, Miami. She was able to work alongside national producers on shows like Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. The CBS subsidiary of St. Petersburg hired her after this as the sports reporter. She moved into Rio Grande Valley in 2009 to work as a reporter on the Spanish channels KNVO TV 48 Univision, and Fox2 News. In 2009, she moved into Rio Grande Valley, Texas, where she became a reporter for KNVO 48 Univision as well as Fox2 News. She was also often asked to fill in as an anchor for weather and sports. She was then anchor and reporter on Univision Dallas' Deportes 23. She was then given more responsibility. She produced pieces about Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS, and World Series as well Dallas Cowboys NBA postseason Finals FC Dallas, and Dallas Stars. In addition, she hosted the local Univision 23 sports program Accion Deportiva Extra on which she also served as anchor herself. The show was promoted to be anchoring sports to Despierta America Deportes' morning show. She also served as anchor of the sports segment for Primer Impacto, a magazine show on the UniMas Network and Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collins was born and raised in Veracruz Mexico. The family moved towards Mexico City, where Antonietta Collins was born on November 1985. Her older sister is also hers. In 1992, the family relocated to Miami following the move to Mexico to the US. Soon after they separated, and, in 1995 Fabio Fajardo was remarried. He passed away from kidney cancer in the year 2006. While on a vacation Antonietta spent the time at her sister's house in Canton Ohio. Her older Collins brother had recently been offered a new job. Antonietta was about to graduate from high school, however she knew the things she wanted to accomplish. In the end she was enthralled with the university. They also offered her a an academic major. Following her graduation from high school, she decided to attend the University and major in Media Studies. Mark Bergmann, her professor who was also the WRMU's 91.1FM station, where she was employed for a number of years, was her friend. Her professor urged her to have self-confidence and was greatly moved by his love of journalism.
